Julian Lighton is an Associate and Executive Coach with El Camino Group, LLC. Julian helps executives and teams achieve their goals by systematically turning confusion into clarity and action. Utilizing methodologies built on 25 years of practical experience and observation as a CxO, general manager and management consultant, leading public and private companies, he coaches with an operator’s lens, which translates into practical insights and learnings that drive better outcomes.
He has worked extensively as a board advisor and operating executive with VC and PE firms in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications, Human Capital Management, Education Technology and Information Services and Analytics Industries.
He has been a Chief Strategy Officer at several publicly listed, scale up technology companies including Corsair Gaming (which he helped IPO), Renaissance Learning, Outerwall (which he helped take private), TiVo (which he merged with RoviCorp) and Neustar.
He was a senior executive at Cisco for over ten years and was instrumental in the growth and evolution of the company’s enterprise sales organization (representing over $25bn in product and services revenues); he held two other key positions leading Emerging Markets ($7.5bn geographic division comprising 136 countries in LATM, MEA, CEE and Russia and the former CIS), and founded and led the Consulting Services and Tools divisions.
Julian has also held senior executive positions at Hitachi Ltd and with McKinsey & Co and Cambridge Technology Partners.
He holds a BA and MA/BCL in Law from Oxford University and a Diploma in Negotiation from The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
He lives in Silicon Valley with his wife and daughter and two giant dogs. He is passionate about cooking, skiing and travel.
