Dave Shaw is an Associate and Executive Coach with El Camino Group, LLC. He is a certified, Los Angeles-based Executive and Leadership Coach with a strong passion for developing people. His perspective is informed by 20+ years of functional leadership experience running global marketing for a major entertainment studio.
Dave is described by coworkers and clients as able to see the broad picture, can meaningfully connect, can build rapport and coach at all levels and is keenly interested in developing others both professionally and personally. His coaching style is open and direct, and he challenges with insight, empathy and support. Having come from operational roles, he has a keen ability to quickly understand the environment and challenges of his clients and collaborates to coach them to higher levels of performance. Dave is passionate about fixing the underlying issues of stress, self-management and lacking work/life balance that often derail top performers.
Prior to coaching, he was Sr. Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at 20th Century Fox, where he managed a team responsible for the marketing and distribution of over 2,000 films. His teams delivered award-winning innovative campaigns for franchises such as Star Wars, Alien, Avatar and The Sound of Music. Dave also spearheaded the development and training plan for the division’s marketing department, ensuring upskilling in areas of communication, creativity, change management and leadership.
Dave holds the ACC accreditation from the International Coaching Federation, received his coaching training at the prestigious Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara and graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Communication. A member of SDSU’s Regional Alumni board, he also finds time to coach current students and recent graduates pursuing careers in entertainment. He resides in Los Angeles with his wife and 3 daughters.
